Updated: Daniel Radcliffe weighs in on Johnny Depp casting controversy

You probably have heard about the controversy surrounding the casting of Johnny Depp in the Harry Potter spin-off film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Entertainment Weekly asked the Daniel about the uproar over him playing Gillert Grindelwald after the abuse allegations made by his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Update: 15th January 2018. TMZ 360 degree video.

“It’s a very hard thing for me,” Radcliffe said, noting he wants to be supportive of the film’s producers who “gave me a great start in life and an amazing job.”

But, he added, “I can see why people are frustrated with the response that they were given from that … I’m not saying anything that anybody hasn’t already said — and this is a weird analogy to draw — [but] in the NFL, there are lots of players arrested for smoking weed and there is other people’s behavior that goes way beyond that and it’s tolerated because they’re very famous players. I suppose the thing I was struck by was, we did have a guy who was reprimanded for weed on the [original Potter] film, essentially, so obviously what Johnny has been accused of is much greater than that.”
In this interview Daniel is referring to actor Jamie Waylett.

The Crimes of Grindelwald will be released on 16th November in the US.

Seriously everyone is upset that he smokes marijuana?? He has a medical card. And soon it will be legal everywhere. I wonder why alcohol isn't more frowned upon seeing as it causes cancer violence and stupidity. This is a dumb reason. Johnny Depp is a very talented man. Could boost ratings for a dying franchise.

Dont confuse their personal life with their reel life.....who knows?Maybe the whole thing was false.....dont over react on everything....Depp got isues with personal life....so what?He is talented actor...who knows what happens inside ur house....just because he is a actor doesnt mean u have to drag his issues to street....Think before u speak....because,mainly its none of ur business
